Abigale Lee
Miller(born September 21 1965) is an American choreographer, dance instructor
and reality television host. Abby Lee Dance Company is her idea, and it ran for
eight seasons on Dance Moms. Miller admitted guilt on June 27, 2016 , to
fraudulent bankruptcy in the felony category. Miller was sentenced to one year
and a day in federal prison and was released on the 27th of March of 2018. The
diagnosis of lymphoma was made in April 2018. It's a form of cancer that
renders you unable walk. She relies on a wheelchair for mobility. Miller grew
up in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. Her mom taught her dance at Maryen Lorrain
Dance Studio. Miller was 14 when she was asked to choreograph and coaching
duties for one of her mother’s competitive dance teams. Miller assumed control
of the studio and changed its name to Reign Dance Productions in 1995. Miller
was recognized as a certified dancer by Dance Masters of America in 1986. She
was also made an associate member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10
in February 2012. However, her membership was terminated by the DMA in February
2012 following the DMA claimed that Miller's reality-TV show Dance Moms was
"a complete distortion of dance teachers and students and was detrimental
to the profession of dance."
